CREATIVITY IS DEAD
OUTCOMES
This project formed four physical outputs: the publication, two acrylic keychains, two bookmarks and a die-cut sticker.
The CREATIVITY IS DEAD publication is A5 size (148mm x 210mm), making it easy to hold and transport while capturing detailed illustrations. It features 300gsm covers and 130gsm inners, with singer-sewn binding to highlight the branding's collage/mixed media aspect. The silk paper type ensures vibrant, clear illustrations and prevents black ink from looking washed out – providing a smooth, professional finish that's pleasing to look at and handle.
The bookmarks are double-sided, measuring 50 × 155 mm and printed on 210gsm silk paper. While the CREATIVITY IS DEAD publication is short, the bookmark was created so readers would be able to save their reading progress using something branded.
The bookmarks were originally going to have an acrylic charm attached to them, but due to size constraints, the charms were repurposed elsewhere.
Two acrylic charms were designed: a 3-inch, double-sided keychain with a star clasp and glitter epoxy, and a 1.5-inch, one-sided charm with a rainbow finish attached to a black cord.
These charms reflect my own experiences as a creative, which aligns with the publication's themes. But they also cater to artists, one of the project's primary stakeholders, who often enjoy collecting keychains or trinkets. The sparkly and reflective finishes connect with the brand's star motif, with the star clasp on the keychain chosen for the same reason.
The stickers are 3-inch, die-cut, made of waterproof vinyl and applied with a holographic shard finish – once again, connecting to the publication’s themes and my personal hobbies. The small, cute and highly decorative nature of the stickers appeals to creatives + artists which was indicated by the results of my user research.
